Change is Good.
I have moved my studio to Phippsburg, a very personal studio that is not a teaching studio downtown! I am painting hours every day, while I watch a young coyote eat blueberries in my meadow, alongside wild turkeys and deer.
I am exhibiting in the Grand Manan Art Gallery in Canada in September 2013; Life is Good.
I am inspired by the Illustrator Colin Sutherland’s efforts to draw envelopes, and engage others to draw by doing so. You send him an envelope with a drawing, he sends you one. And he documents them online (with address blacked out), to the delight of his friends and fans. I sent him one (can you find it? It LOOKS like mine, if you know my work) and he sent me one. He was generous enough to slip a sketchbook page in the envelope with a ‘years ago’ sketch that he did of my son.
So, I offer to you: you send me one, I’ll send you one (I suggest a legal size envelope). I am calling it Mailbox Lovelution in honor of my son C who started years ago what he called the “Mailbox Revolution”, writing and sending postcards, relishing the POST. And the handwritten communique between two.
Here is my first: garlic scapes that I have in a jar of water and have been watching intently. We’ll do this one backwards, so I have it STARTED.
My address is: 72 Front Street #16, Bath ME 04530
I can’t wait to see what you draw (and remember, anything you do is wonderful, to me; need not worry about ‘skill’; let loose! and if you don’t want it online, let me know. Remember, NO NAMES will be shown! Gives you some leeway.) Not to mention what might be IN that envelope…
